Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of the 300 block of Irvin Road, South Pine and East Jackson streets around 7 p.m.
A brief investigation led police to a residence in the 900 block South Pine Street, where the shooting suspect had just entered, according to police.
"An unruly crowd then began to gather and additional Officers from surrounding area departments, Spring Garden and York Area Regional, were subsequently called in to assist" police stated in a release.
The "hostile crowd" included the property owner, say police.
A search warrant was obtained, as a result, police recovered the following:
- Quantity of Heroin
- Quantity of Crack Cocaine
- Approximately a pound of Marijuana
- Loaded AK-47 rifle
- Three .40 caliber Glock pistols (one reported stolen)
The police also arrested the shooting suspect, Stephen Jiles Jr.
No charges have been filed against Jiles as of Wednesday morning.
Jiles has a record of drug possession with intent to distribute from 2019, according to court documents.
"We are CERTAIN the actions of these Officers undoubtedly saved or will save someone's life," police conclude the release.
